Grandparent's Day 2011

Have I mentioned lately how much I love our school? As parents, we have the opportunity to partner in private school education for our children through a University Model school. Today, Legacy held its annual Grandparent's Day celebration. I knew this would be a tough one since we just lost Morris, but we were honored b/c our Dean of Family Ministry asked Nate if he would like to illustrate the front cover of the program.
Here is a picture of "Papa" and Nate by a campfire. Right before Morris was diagnosed with cancer, he had Nate stay the night and they built a bonfire in their firepit in the backyard. This is one of Nate's favorite memories with his Papa. Papa is the blue guy in a cowboy hat - very fitting!

The back of the program read, "The artwork on the front cover was drawn by a Legacy kindergarten student, Nate Eickenhorst, in loving memory of his Papa."

Of course my daddy wasn't there either. He's planning on moving to TX in the next couple of weeks, so I see many Grandparent's Days in his future!

Here are a few of Nate's Legacy buddies before the program started.

Now for the moment you've all been waiting for. Many of you have seen Nate's "performances" before. It's about 5 minutes, but if you want to speed it up for some laughs, fast forward to about
3 min and 30 seconds. He totally gets all of his moves from his daddy!

Here's Nate with his Mimi and Lou Lou! Thank you both for being there to help us celebrate today!

We miss you so much Morris. It just wasn't the same without you!

"Children's Children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children."
